A little information about us

The school is on the Somerset Levels near the historic town of Glastonbury. Since remodelling in 1991, the school boasts an attractive blend of the very old and the new. The attractive red brick and tiled building has 4 purpose-built teaching areas as well as a centrally located Study Area, where the Library and Literacy Room are found.
The school has made a large investment in Information Technology. There is a large, well equipped hall for games and gymnastics. The school is set in very attractive grounds with a large number of flower beds and trees as well as a Sports Field and Adventure Playground. A corner of the field is used as an Environmental Area and the views across to Glastonbury Tor are stunning in all seasons.
Over the last 2 years, the percentage of children achieving national standards in the core subjects of English, Maths and Science has been above both the national and county averages at 7 and 11. However, the foundation subjects are also taught in a stimulating fashion and the school is especially active in encouraging sport and drama. There are opportunities to study a musical instrument and to participate in many different extra-curricular activities.

All staff believe strongly in the importance of personal and social education at school where children are encouraged to develop as responsible individuals within a caring and supportive network of adults and other children.
The children are organized in four classes - two at Key Stage 1 with Reception to Year 2 children and two at Key Stage 2, with Year 3 and 4 children in Class 3 and Year 5 and 6 children in Class 4. There is often the opportunity of working in smaller groups, especially with Maths where children are loosely set according to ability level. The teachers take advantage of the 'family' characteristics of a small school, to jointly plan the whole curriculum together, which adds to the community ethos.
